This morning, I had the honor of serving as keynote speaker for the graduation of the 10th Leadership Commerce City class.
As I reflected on my own leadership journey, I was reminded that some of the most important lessons are rarely learned from a textbook. They are learned through adversity, responsibility, service, and a commitment to something greater than yourself.
I shared three truths that continue to guide me:
Leadership is not about position. It is about taking responsibility.
Growth often emerges from challenges we never would have chosen.
Titles may change, but a clear sense of mission endures.
Perhaps the most important message I offered was this:
Leadership is not about being the most important person in the room. It is about helping other people discover their importance.
Congratulations to the graduates of Leadership Commerce City. Communities are strengthened when individuals choose to lead with purpose, serve with humility, and invest in the success of others.
