People don't give their best to organizations. People give their best to environments where they feel seen, valued, and connected to purpose.
One of the greatest leadership lessons I've learned is that culture is not built through strategic plans, organizational charts, or mission statements alone. Culture is built through thousands of daily decisions that communicate to people: "You matter here."
That's why I'm especially proud that the Community College of Aurora was recently recognized as a Most Promising Place to Work by The EDU Ledger.
Not because of the award itself. But because it reflects years of intentional effort by a team committed to caring for one another while caring for our students. The strongest organizations are never built around "I." They are built around "we."
Way to go, team!
